Your Family Has Protected This Forest for Generations. Let’s Support That Work.

Secure your land. Honor your legacy. Get rewarded for the stewardship your family has always provided.

Why This Program Exists

For generations, your family has cared for this land. That stewardship benefits everyone, yet families like yours rarely receive recognition or compensation for it.

This program exists to change that.

Many families own forest land passed down through generations. When ownership records are unclear, it's called heirs’ property, and it can make it hard to access programs, secure income, or plan ahead.

AFF and HeirShares work together to help families understand their ownership, resolve title issues, and connect with trusted legal support so you can protect your land and prepare for opportunities like the Family Forest Carbon Program (FFCP).

Important

This program requires a 20-year commitment to forest stewardship. All co-owners must consent. Take time to discuss with your family whether this is the right path for you. There's no judgment; your family's stewardship is valuable regardless of whether you participate in the program.
